Recent Earthquakes in California and Nevada
A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Lamont, California, on Tuesday night. The earthquake rumbled through a broad stretch of Southern California, including Los Angeles.
The quake was followed by a series of smaller aftershocks, including a 3.5-magnitude aftershock that struck near Ridgecrest, California, on Wednesday morning.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the earthquake, but the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is warning that aftershocks could continue for days or even weeks.
The USGS is urging residents in the affected areas to be prepared for aftershocks and to take steps to protect themselves, such as securing heavy objects and having a plan for what to do in the event of an earthquake.
