NHL News: Derek Clancey hired as Canucks' director of player personnel

Former ECHL star player Derek Clancey has been newly hired as the Vancouver Canucks' director of player personnel, according to a statement posted on the team's website.

Clancey follows Vancouver’s newly-minted president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford, who also previously hired Clancey during his time with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization.

The majority of Clancey’s professional playing career was spent with Columbus Chill of the ECHL, where he became an all-time member of the team. He also played in the American Hockey League for the Peoria Rivermen, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Saint John’s Maple Leafs, and Springfield Falcons.

Clancey’s most recent position was with the Toronto Maple Leafs, who he joined in 2019 as an assistant general manager player personnel. He spent three seasons with the Leafs before joining the Canucks.
